Customer Service
Understanding what the customer wants is fundamental in the printing business. Acting in the best interest for the client will play a pivotal role in building a long term relationship; if not, then it will be just a one time order. When issues arise, being direct, honest, and the commitment to resolve issues will go a long way.
Pre-Press
Versatility is one of the key success factors in this department. Even though Adobe dominates the design industry, people still use other various design/layout programs such as:
Quark Xpress
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Powerpoint
Microsoft Publisher
Corel software.
Workflow
Using the best workflow ensures reliable output. One of the best digital workflows out there is the Esko Artworks Nexus. In todays ever growing technology and portability of files; a pdf workflow is the preferred method. Understanding the workflow process, prioritization of jobs, and ways to avert fatal errors are skills that I have acquired.
Quality Control
Proving superb service does require quality control that focuses on the job specifications and the bottom line. Ensuring the output corresponds with the contract proof. Keeping the content in mind, I also looking into the physical workflow, to make certain the workflow is in good standing order. This implies that proper protocol is followed and not to cut corners. Quality needs to be up to par.
Digital Print
Operated the Ricoh Pro C900, Konica Minolta CCP650, Xerox 4590, and Canon office multi-function printer. The demand for fast turnaround grows increasingly rapid. It plays a pivotal role that it goes along side color consistency and is a strong selling point. The number one fit for digital printing is in tight marketing campaigns and time sensitive mailings.
CTP
At this final point in the pre-press workflow; it is very important that quality proof reading and content check happens. Ensuring that the image that is burnt accurately before bringing it to press. Even with the the best imposition and workflow software; there are glitches that occur due to software language that at times misunderstood. Reiterating the importance of quality control from the human eye. Worked on two platesetters (Presstek Dimention 450i and Kodak Magnus III). These two platesetters operate similarly, but have a different way of organizing files to image setting to how the excess particles are removed for the freshly burnt plate.
Offset Printing
The understanding the original printing process and what offset has to offer will define the printing knowledge. To this day, digital printing comes closer to the output quality that off-set has to offer, but falls short to how many up per sheet and pms color and stability.
Finishing
Bindery
After passing the prepress workflow and skillful press operations; its up to the bindery to make use of what is printed and make count. With over five years in understanding the bindery process and imposition requirements, I can make productive decisions that improve the bottom line result.
Cutting
Fast-paced. Organized. Simplicity. The knowledge and experience in cutting completes the print production workflow. When cutting, having clean edges on all four sides help avoid hickes on press and avoid toner build up on the digital press.
Shipping/Delivery
Experience in using UPS World Ship, Fedex Shipping Center, and USPS to send jobs the next day or buy standard mail.
